Our Golden Jubilee
St. John Fisher School opened in September 1965 as a primary school with ten classrooms. In September 1973 with re-organisation, it became a First School catering for children from 5-9 years with four classrooms. In 1994 the Integrated Nursery opened making places available for children of four years old.
The current roll is approximately 250 pupils consisting of eight classes which includes an Early Years Foundation Stage consisting of Reception pupils and nursery age pupils, from 3-5 years of age.
The academic year 2015 to 2016 marked 50 years of catholic education on our current school site. We have lots of ideas planned to help celebrate this special occasion including placing photographs, newspaper articles and lots of other interesting pieces of information on this page over the coming academic year. However, we cannot do this without your help. Do you have any information, articles or stories related to our inaugural school year, either back in 1965, or around that time?
