Black History Month Celebrations

Art workshops to celebrate

Our children have been learning about important figures this month through their Black History work, and have displayed their projects in our hall.

We have celebrated through art workshops, with over 80 parents in attendance to create and share with their children, it is beautiful to have so many families playing and talking together.

Black History very much is history, and is weaved into all that we teach at school, with modules taught throughout the year in English and Topic which highlight people of all races who have made an impact.

We purposefully chose texts through the literacy tree to represent all of the children in our community where we can.

However, celebrations have their place too, and it is important to pause and celebrate all those amazing people who have inspired our children one way or another.

My personal favourite is the celebration of the greatest sportswoman of the next generation 'Greatness'
